The vision for a municipality acts as a roadmap for the future. It is built upon community consensus to promote continued support and implementation over time. The vision document acts as the basis for the Comprehensive Plan, which is the regulatory blueprint for the community.
The City of Ocala will hosting four meetings were held to collect public input, along with online surveys and small group presentations.
Meeting days and times were as follows:
- Thursday, Feb. 15, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Mary Sue Rich Community Center at Reed Place, 1821 NW 21st St.
- Wednesday, Feb. 28, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Fort King National Historic Landmark, 3925 E. Fort King St.
- Saturday, March 2, noon to 2 p.m.
Citizens Circle, 151 SE Osceola Ave. - Friday, March 29, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Zone Health and Fitness, Market at Heathbrook
The 2035 Vision brought about many positive advancements for the City of Ocala including:
- Form Based Code
- Implementation of two new Community Redevelopment Areas (CRA), and the expansion of the Downtown CRA.
- Created an incentive program to encourage infill, development or redevelopment.
- Include sidewalk improvement in the annual Capital Improvement Program.
This map was developed during the 2035 Vision process and shows the areas of intensity within the City.
