Ocala Fire Rescue
We share this post with profound disbelief. Yesterday morning, John McMahon was leading the pipes and drums at the Fallen Firefighter Memorial at the Florida State Fire College, and the night before, in Downtown Ocala. To John McMahon's friends and family, we offer our sincere condolences during this challenging time. John’s larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed. May the cherished memories of his vibrant spirit bring you comfort and solace in the days to come. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you, providing support and strength as you navigate this time of sorrow.

This morning, fire service members from around the state gathered at the Florida State Fire College to observe the Fallen Firefighter Memorial. This event allows us to unite as a community, remember, reflect, and show our unwavering support for the families of those who have given their lives in service. Despite the beauty of the ceremony, the loss of these heroes was palpable. We are deeply grateful for your presence at the 16th Annual Fallen Firefighter Memorial Concert at the Ocala Downtown Square. Coming together to honor the lives of our fallen brothers and sisters, including Driver Engineer Chuck Westphal from Marion County Fire Rescue, was a reminder of their unwavering courage and selflessness. Your attendance means more than you know to us and to the families who continue to feel the weight of their loss. Each note played and each word spoken served to keep their memories alive. Together, we not only remember but also celebrate the legacy of those who dedicated their lives to serving and protecting us.
