Janice Mitchell became the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in March 2023. In this role, she is responsible for the operations of Budget, Finance and Customer Service, Ocala Electric Utility and Ocala Fiber Network. Janice comes to the City of Ocala with over 30 years of experience in finance, working in both the public and private sectors.

Prior to working with the city, her recent job experience includes the position of CFO for multiple departments within the City of Indianapolis, Indiana, including the Department of Code Enforcement, Department of Public Works, and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. She additionally served as Deputy Controller and Budget Director for the City of Indianapolis.

Janice received her Bachelor of Science in Finance and Business Analysis from Indiana University.

In her spare time, she enjoys connecting with family living in Florida, while remaining in touch with friends and family in Indiana.  She has two adult daughters living in Central Florida and recently welcomed a grandchild.  In addition to family, her hobbies include hiking, spending time outdoors, and exploring her new city, Ocala.  She also enjoys time spent with her two dogs, Sadie and Maggie.
