Flood Insurance
Floods are the #1 natural disaster in the United States and can happen at anytime. Typically, several tropical storms and hurricanes will develop and move at varying speeds across the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and the Atlantic Ocean. Even though a storm may not make landfall in Florida, it can still bring severe hazards to the state and your property!
The City of Ocala is a Class 3 Community for the National Flood Insurance Program's Community Rating System (CRS).
This means that property owners in the City of Ocala qualify for a discount on Flood Insurance! Your basic Homeowner's Insurance does NOT cover flood damage! Depending on your property's location, your home is considered to be either a "High-Risk" or a "Moderate-to-Low Risk" for a flood. More than 20% of flood insurance claims come from "Moderate-to-Low Risk" areas.
Visit FEMA Flood Map ** to see if your property falls into a Flood Zone.
Flood insurance policies are more affordable than you think!
Since the City of Ocala is a Class 3 Community, properties in Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHA) receive a 35% discount on their Flood Insurance. Also, properties in Non-Special Flood Hazard Areas (Non-SFHA) receive a 10% discount on their Flood Insurance. Whether you are considered in a "High Risk" or "Low Risk" area, you should consider flood insurance protection.
